Nootropics and Absorption

The best nootropic is only best if Absorbed In determining what makes the best nootropic supplement the best, we will look more closely at the essentials we wrote about in our first blog series entitled BEST NOOTROPIC ROADMAP . Each of the key essentials will be talked about in greater detail in its own blog.

When taking any type of supplemental product, the format (i.e., pill, capsule, liquid, etc.) is extremely important in determining how the ingredients will transfer from the finished product to where needed in the body. Ingredients can only be of benefit if they are available in a form where the body can accept them and then absorbed into the cells to be put into action.

We will write about this often because it is of vital importance in determining how effective a supplement will be. . . the only way for any ingredient to be of any benefit is if it is absorbed .

Let’s be clear, though, and point out that not all vitamins and nutrients need to be or even can be absorbed as soon as they enter the mouth. For example, fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E & K) go through a completely different absorption process than water-soluble vitamins (vitamins B & C).

  • Fat-soluble supplemental vitamins and ingredients are soluble in lipids (fats). Once liquefied, they are absorbed in fat globules (called chylomicrons) that travel through the lymphatic system of the small intestines, and then enter into the general blood circulation within the body.
  • Water-soluble supplemental vitamins and ingredients are, once liquefied, absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

So, our first concern isn’t how soon the ingredients from our best nootropic supplement will get absorbed, but rather to first make sure they are AVAILABLE for absorption.

We do that by taking good care of ourselves: we follow a good diet plan, consistently exercise and get plenty of rest. These great habits, however, will still not keep our bodily systems from slowing down as we age. Even processing what we eat slows down. Because of that, it becomes increasingly clear that to maintain great health taking supplements is essential AS WELL AS taking them in a format that works easily with our body systems.

Studies have proven that the body must completely dissolve any functional ingredient into a liquid before it will be available to be absorbed, and it must be made available before it goes too far down the digestive tract. Therefore, liquid is the best supplement format to ensure any ingredient will be available for absorption by the body. If ingredient availability or absorption is not properly taken into consideration, what you consider to be the best nootropic supplement (or any other supplement) may not be working to your health’s advantage.

When looking to fuel your body with the ingredients needed to perform at its very best, especially nootropic supplements that support your most vital organ – your brain, ensure they are in a finished product format that gives your body the greatest chance to use every ingredient – a liquid.

Remember – It’s not what you eat or take; it’s only what’s absorbed that counts!
